I would like to introduce myself as the principal of the Alder Avenue Middle School. The building opened its doors in 1992 as an Intermediate School, and in 2007 we proudly became the second middle school in the district. We have 850 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Each grade is divided into three smaller “Teams” that create smaller schools within the school. Our curriculum incorporates the New Jersey Core Content standards, and coupled with our pacing guides, will ensure that each student is properly prepared for their academic career. Last year, Alder had the honor of winning a National Green Ribbon award which is a program that recognizes schools participating in activities that promote and encourage a healthy and environmentally friendly learning environment. In continuing in the theme of the award, we are looking to take further steps in making the students and community aware of the ecology around us. It is our hope to take the concept of recycling in our school to the next level. By looking at what the building has in place for trash and recycling, we want to do what we can to make our carbon footprint even smaller! Click here to look further at all of Alder’s recent accomplishments. Our Renaissance program is beginning its fourth year. As you may remember, Renaissance rewards students for good conduct, community service and making positive decisions. This year’s theme is Catch the Wave of Success. As we look to reward the students for their academic success, we will broaden and infuse community service projects as well. We have a dedicated faculty and staff here at Alder Avenue and together we will work to ensure that this will be another positive and academically challenging school year. |
