Severo Ochoa: Molecular Biologist (1905-1993) Severo Ochoa was born in Luarca, Spain. He earned his medical degree at he University of Madrid, with honors. He conducted research and taught at several universities. Severo won the Nobel Prize in medicine and physiology in 1959. He discovered how humans could create RNA, and important life substance that allows cells to grow. His discovery helped to advance the research of other medical scientists.
