Ileana Ros-Lehtinen: Congresswoman (b. 1952) Ileana Ros fled Cuba with her family to Miami, Florida I 1960. She became a United States citizen. Ileana attended Florida International University and became a teacher. Florida voters elected her into the state body of representatives, and she even married a fellow legislator. Their daughters Amanda Michelle and Patricia Marie were sometimes known as A.M. and P.M. Later, she became the first Hispanic woman and first Cuban American elected to the United States Congress.
