Gigi Fernandez:  Tennis player (b. 1964)  Beatriz Christina “Gigi” Fernandez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  At age four, Gigi began banging a tennis ball against a wall.  She was the top ranked junior tennis player in Puerto Rico.  Gigi joined the United States Olympic tennis team in 1992.  she and Mary Joe Fernandez won the gold medal for women’s tennis doubles against a Spanish duo!   Marsh, Carole, The Best Book of Hispanic Biographies.,Galopade Interational:  2003 p22.
