6th Grade Culture Project

Ellen Ochoa:  Astronaut (b. 1958)  Born in Los Angeles, California, Ellen loved to read.  She played the flute and dreamed of becoming a professional musician.  Ellen was the best math student in her high school.  She earned a degree in physics from San Diego University and a master and doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University.  After being accepted by the NASA space program, Ellen became the first Latina astronaut and the first Hispanic woman in space!
