6th Grade Culture Project

El Greco:  Painter (1541-1614)  Domenikos Theotocopoulos is known as El Greco (‘The Greek”) in the history books because he was born in Crete.  El Greco became a great painter, sculptor, and architect in Spain.  Many of his paintings focused on religious subjects, including portraits and events.  El Greco was influenced by Michelangelo’s art.  He is regarded among the greatest artists in history.
