Celia Cruz:  “Queen of Salsa”  (1925-2003)  Celia Cruz was born in Havana, Cuba.  When a relative entered her in a radio talent contest, Celia’s life changed because she won!  She pursued a music degree at Havana Conservatory.  Celia’s wild performances launched her salsa-singing career.  She recorded more that 70 albums, earned more that 12 Grammy nominations, and won two Grammy Awards.  Celia received a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Smithsonian Institution, and an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
